SANTA ANA, Calif. - In a highly competitive match, the Santa Ana Men's Soccer team and the Irvine Valley Lasers (8-5-3, 3-2-2) ended in a 0-0 tie on Friday afternoon. 

The game started off with IVC using their spend and intensity to set the tone with constant pressure. For the first few minutes, the Lasers seemed to be in control while the Dons (7-4-5, 3-2-2) were still settling in. 

But eventually, the tide would change as the Dons got comfortable and started connected passes. Although the score at the half was 0-0, Santa Ana outshot the Lasers, 6-4. 

The play in the second half was similar with both teams struggling to get good shots against the opposing defense. 

With about 14 minutes left in the match, Santa Ana thought they finally broke through as Jorge Cortes intercepted an errant pass back to the Laser goalkeeper and then put it into the goal. 

Following a discussion between the linesmen and the referee, the goal was called back as they deemed play was not live after a Santa Ana foul. 

The score would remain 0-0 in the last few minutes, giving both teams another tie and dropping them into a two-way tie for fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) standings.

SAC will now prepare to play the Golden West Rustlers (8-3-4, 4-2-1) on Tuesday in another crucial OEC match. The Rustlers picked up a 4-3 win against Santiago Canyon College and are currently second in the standings.
