SANTA ANA - For the third-straight year, the Dons defeated Division III CalTech in a non-conference match. The Dons first two wins came in five set battles but tonight was wrapped up in just three sets. The final scores were 25-9, 25-11 and 25-20.

Esther Arroyo led the charge in the first set as she recorded four kills while Zaria Saunders added three service aces. The Dons (3-3) opened up an early 10-3 lead and quickly doubled that to 20-6 on a Chloe Anderson kill. Arroyo closed out the set with her fourth kill.

The Beavers (0-6) grabbed the first point of the second set before the Dons went on a 15-0 run to take control of the set. The Dons again led by 20-6 before going on to the 25-11 win. Anderson and Saunders led the way with three kills apiece in the set.

The third set proved to be the most exciting with the Beavers grabbing an early 6-1 lead before the Dons battled back, using a 6-0 run including four service aces by Daisy Ta'amilo to establish an 11-8 lead.

But the Beavers wouldn't go down without a fight and forced ties at 13-13 and 14-14. But Anderson broke that second tie with a kill, giving the Dons the lead for good. After building a late five-point lead at 20-15, the Dons closed out the set, and the match, by a final score of 25-20.

Arroyo led the way with 11 kills followed by Anderson with nine. Saunders added five service aces, just ahead of Ta'amilo with four while Myriah Kunipo-Aguirre had 12 digs.
