Clough Leads Dons to 9-1 Win over Cerritos College

After allowing one run on one hit in the first inning, Bryan Clough shut down visiting Cerritos College over the next six innings in the Dons 9-1 victory. The win was the Dons (6-1) sixth straight win following their season opening loss.

Cerritos (2-6) pushed its lone run across in the first inning following a pair of walks issued by Clough, a base hit and a throwing error. Following that error, however, Clough would go on to retire eight batters in a row without allowing another hit until the seventh inning.

In total, Clough allowed three hits to the Falcons over seven innings while striking out three batters. He retired another eight batters in a row over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Offensively, the Dons picked up their pitcher in the second inning with four runs on three hits while also benefitting from a pair of Falcons errors. Andy Peterson drove in Blake Walker before JB Bryant hit a two-run single that gave the Dons the lead. Bryant would score the Dons fourth run of the inning on an error.

Brandon Baxter scored the next two runs for the Dons in the third and fifth innings respectively. In both innings, Baxter singled before scoring on an error.

The Dons final three runs came in the eighth inning with Adrian Garcia, Geoff Schuller and Baxter each picking up an RBI in the frame.
