Sneddon Named One of Eight Headed to ABCA Hall of Fame

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced eight individuals to be inducted to the ABCA Hall of Fame in January 2021.

Among those individuals is one of Santa Ana's all-time greats, Don Sneddon, who spent 32 years as the head baseball coach at Santa Ana College where he became the all-time winningest coach in California community college baseball history.

Sneddon finished his career at SAC with a record of 1,072-383-3 while leading the Dons to three state championships and 16 conference championships. After retiring in 2014, Don continued to be active in baseball as he joined the staff of the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod Baseball League as a third base coach and hitting instructor for, then manager, Jerry Weinstein.

In 2017, Sneddon was named manager of the Wareham Gatemen, leading the team to the West Division Finals in his first season at the helm. He followed that with a Cape Cod Baseball League championship, the first in Gateham history, in 2018.

Coach Sneddon stepped down after three seasons with the Gatemen but is still active at Santa Ana College, serving on it's Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee.
