Dons Baseball Sweeps El Camino to Advance to Super Regionals

SANTA ANA, Calif. - In the 2024 3C2A Southern California Regionals, No. 6 Santa Ana Baseball swept the El Camino Warriors (21-21) to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend.

The Dons (30-11-1) took game one thanks to an impressive pitching performance from Jaxton Andeel and Joey Iglesias

Andeel earned his seventh win of the season after striking out six batters in six innings of work while conceding just one run.

Iglesias was then handed the ball and went the final three innings to pick up his third save of the year. The right hander held the Warriors scoreless and struck out five to close the game.

Offensively, Michael Rocha did his job in the cleanup spot as the sophomore infielder drove in three runners in a 2-for-4 day.

Outfielder Jake Long found his rhythm at the plate with an RBI and three hits on the day while Thomas Williams and Matthew Dobson collected two hits apiece.

In game two, the Dons relied much more on their bats, recording 19 hits in a 17-7 win.

Both Christian Altamirano and Rocha came up with season highs in RBI with five on the day. Williams added another two hits and a couple RBI while Connor Dietsch had himself a day with a walk and two hits including a two run home run in the second inning.

Santa Ana will now head to Golden West College for the Super Regional round starting on Thursday, May 9th.
