Santa Ana Plays No. 8 Palomar Tough but Falls 4-2

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana Softball (3-4) put up a good fight against No. 8 Palomar College (6-1) in Tuesday's non-conference matchup. The Dons kept things close for seven innings but were defeated by a score of 4-2.

After Palomar's two run home run in the third inning, the Dons responded quickly to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth.

The Dons put two on the bases with a couple of singles from Jeana Gonzalez and Desirae McCormick, then freshmen catcher Tiana Patrick lined a double down the left field line to bring in both runners.

In the next inning, the Comets capitalized on a Santa Ana error to take the lead back with a two run inning. Those two runs proved to be the difference, as both teams were unable to score for the rest of the game.

Santa Ana will have a chance to quickly bounce back from the loss, as they start conference play at Orange Coast College on Wednesday, Feb. 14th at 3:00 p.m.
