1976 and 1977 Women's Volleyball Teams

Women’s volleyball was dominated by Santa Ana College over the course of the 1976 and 1977 seasons. The Dons reign began in 1976 with a perfect 49-0 match record that culminated with the National Championship. The following season, the Dons would come back to claim the first-ever California community college state championship.

The Dons were one of three teams from Southern California in the 1976 National Championships and they defeated one of those teams, Los Angeles Valley College, in straight sets by scores of 15-4 and 15-12.

In the 1977 California Community College Women’s Volleyball Championships, the Dons topped El Camino College for the second time in the tournament to claim the championship after defeating Santa Monica College and Saddleback College.

Hall of Famers from these teams include Angie Andrade-Morioka, Dolly Kaawa-Bartlett and Head Coach Nancy Warren.
