Frank Addleman served as the head coach of the Santa Ana College wrestling team from 1965-1982, compiling a 210-51 overall record . He led the Dons to their first wrestling state championship in 1974, and was named California Coach of the Year that same season. He was also named Southern California and Orange County Coach of the Year three times. 

During his career, Addleman guided the Dons to three Southern California team championships , coached 15 individual state champions, 40 state place finishers and 35 All-Americans. 

Addleman later served as the assistant coach and administrative assistant at Santa Ana College from 1983-1997. He is a member of the Orange County Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame (1995), the El Camino College Hall of Fame (1996), the National Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame (1998) and the California State University , Long Beach Hall of Fame (1999). 

Addleman wrestled at the collegiate level at Long Beach State in 1960-61 where he completed two consecutive undefeated seasons in duel meets. He finished in second and third place in the Pacific Coast Conference in his two years at Long Beach State and qualified for the Olympics. Addleman claimed the A.A.U. Western Regional Championship in 1961. 

In 1984, Addleman was part of the six man master's outrigger canoe racing team that won the Hawaii State Championship , and in 2006 he was elected into the Ironman Hall of Fame for wrestling/surfing.
