Frank Andruski

Football, Class of 2010

Frank Andruski anchored the Santa Ana College football team’s defense that shut out six opponents on its way to the 1962 National Championship.

Andruski, who played defensive back for the Dons, was a member of the 1961 and 1962 football teams while also competing on the track & field team where he set the SAC record in the high jump. His mark stood until fellow SAC Athletic Hall of Famer Ed Caruthers set the new record in 1965.

The 1962 football team finished 10-0 while holding opponents to 4.3 points per game. Along with the national championship, the third in SAC history, the Dons won the Junior Rose Bowl. Andruski received All-Eastern Conference honors and was later drafted by the San Francisco 49ers.

He then signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League and went on to be named a Western Conference All-Star six times and an All-Canadian All-Star twice. Andruski was a member of the 1971 team that won the Grey Cup, the CFL championship, and was named to the Calgary Stampeder Wall of Fame in 2008.
