Water Polo, Class of 2009
Doug Kimbell left his mark on Santa Ana College after just one
season in the pool for the Dons. After bouncing back from UCLA,
Kimbell was named First-Team All-Conference and All-American in
water polo while being named the team’s Most Valuable Player
after setting the school record in goals.
He was also named First-Team All-Conference and All-American in
swimming while competing in the breast stroke and the individual
medley.
Kimbell transferred from SAC to Long Beach State where he was named
the PCAA Most Valuable Player while leading the 49ers to a second
place finish in the NCAA championships.
He competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics with the US water polo team where he won the silver medal in 1988. Kimbell was also a member of the US Water Polo team that took gold in the 1991 FINA World Cup in Barcelona.
