Leroy Whittle played one season for the Santa Ana College football team, running his way into the Dons record book before transferring to Oregon State University.

Following his collegiate career, Whittle played professionally for the Edmonton and Oakland Raiders before pursuing a career as a chiropractor.

During his time with the Dons, Whittle set the second-best rushing mark in Santa Ana history with 850 yards while setting the Dons record for most yards in Eastern Conference competition with 810.

He also set the SAC record for total offense in Eastern Conference game with 827 yards. Whittle also set the fourth best single game rushing mark with 180 yards in one game.

His terrific season was capped off by being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Year while also being named Don of the Year. Whittle was also named Most Valuable Player while receiving All-America honors at halfback.
