While playing for the Santa Ana College men's basketball team from 1977-1979, Edgar Wickliffe lit up the scoreboard as he finished third all-time in career scoring with 1,233 points, third all-time in single-season scoring with 758 points (1978-1979) and eighth all-time in single-season scoring average with 21.6 points per game as a sophomore.

Wickliffe also set a single-game, school-record with 47 points against the City College of San Francisco in 1978 as he finished with another school-record 21 field goals made. He holds the SAC school-record for career field goals made (544), most field goal attempts in a game (33), most field goals attempted in a season (645) and most field goals attempted in a career (1,051). 

The Dons were 44-23 overall during his two seasons, including a 25-7 campaign as a freshman. Santa Ana won the South Coast Conference title that same year with an 11-1 mark. 
Wickliffe later attended Utah State University from 1979-1981, where he averaged 13.9 points and 4.3 rebounds his senior season. After graduating from Utah State , Wickliffe played professional basketball in Chile.
