BAKERSFIELD - The Dons opened the 2012 season with a long road trip that ended with a 36-19 loss to Bakersfield College. The game was tight through the first two quarters before Bakersfield turned two third quarter touchdowns into a commanding 20-point lead.

Bakersfield opened scoring with a field goal following a Dons turnover before taking a 10-3 lead after the first quarter. Late in the first half, the Dons were threatening to take the lead but a Bakersfield interception in the end zone gave the Renegades a 19-13 lead at the half.

From there, Bakersfield pulled away to a 33-13 lead after three quarters before going on to the 36-19 victory. SAC looks to bounce back next weekend when the Dons host College of the Desert in their home opener.
