Basketball Falls to Fullerton in Third Conference Game of the Season

SANTA ANA- Men's basketball fell to the Fullerton College Hornets tonight in their first home Orange Empire Conference game 84-65. The Dons (5-13) had a higher free throw percent average than Fullerton (13-5) during the game with 76.2% accuracy.  

During the first half, freshman Xavier Gunter from Long Beach Poly High School scored the Dons' first points with a layup followed by two more points from freshman D'Caran Anderson to put the Dons in the lead 4-2. The Hornets answered with two more points, but then sophomores Tauren Oram and QV Johnson scored two points each to take back the lead.

 Xavier Gunter scored a total of 7 points in the first half for the Dons and had 7 rebounds. Freshman Royal Hardaway followed closely with 6 points, but the Hornets kept the lead from the SAC at the half 40-23.

QV Johnson led the second half offensively with ten points. Royal Hardaway also scored 8 more points for Santa Ana. Xavier Gunter, Taurean Oram, Devon Jackson, and Andrew Harper all had two rebounds each. During the second half, the Dons scored a total of 42 points, but it wasn't enough for the win and Santa Ana College lost to Fullerton College 84-65 in their second OEC game.

Men's basketball will play again in their third Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Riverside City College at 7 p.m.
