Men’s Basketball Falls to Irvine Valley College 80-73

SANTA ANA- The Dons were outmatched by the Irvine Valley College Lasers in their seventh Orange Empire Conference game 80-73. Sophomore QV Johnson scored a game high of 33 points and had five assists and 10 rebounds.

Freshman Devon Jackson opened the game by blocking the Laser's first layup attempt followed by QV Johnson's first rebound. Sophomore Taurean Oram scored the first two points for the Dons with a jump shot to kick start the Dons' offense. In the first half, both QV Johnson and Xavier Gunter had seven rebounds for the Dons.

At the beginning of the second half, Johnson dunked the ball and then Devon Jackson scored a layup to bring the Dons score up to be only trailing the Lasers by two points. Freshman D'Caran Anderson then made a three point jump shot for SAC. In total, Anderson scored eight points for the Dons and Xavier Gunter led the team with 16 rebounds.

Santa Ana College was 60% in their free throw average and made 38 points in the paint. Also, the Dons out-rebounded IVC.

Men's basketball will play again in their eighth Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Fullerton College at 5 p.m.
