Dons Defeat Cypress College in Overtime in Final Game of Season

SANTA ANA- The Dons saw their season come to a close with a 96-93 win in overtime to visiting Cypress College in an Orange Empire Conference game. This was the second meeting of the season between the two teams, but the first win for the Dons as they lost the previous game.

The Dons (7-21, 2-10) opened the game with Xavier Gunter making the first two layups. The Dons continued to hold the lead through the first minutes until the Chargers (13-14, 5-7) scored three free throws to take and hold on to the lead through the first half.

Jason Walker started the second half with a three point jump shot followed by a layup from QV Johnson. With three minutes left in the game at a 75-75 tie score, Devon Jackson made a layup to bring the Dons lead up to two points. Then the Chargers answered with two more points to send SAC in to overtime. In the final 22 seconds of overtime, Xavier Gunter and QV Johnson scored all their free throws for the final 96-93 win for the Dons.

QV Johnson led Santa Ana College with 36 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
