Men’s Soccer Rises Over Fullerton to Advance to the Second Round of Playoffs

SANTA ANA- Dons soccer picked up a 3-2 playoff win over the visiting Fullerton College Hornets in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Regional Playoffs.

With the win, the Dons (14-2-6) advance to the second round against Oxnard College after the Condors defeated San Diego Mesa College 2-0. The second round match will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Oxnard College. 

In the first half of the game, the Dons and the Hornets remained scoreless. In the 47th minute, Freshman Matheus Cuhna scored the first goal to lead the Dons with an assist from freshman Everado Serrano. The Hornets reacted by tying the match 1-1.

Everado Serrano shot a goal from the outside in the 72nd minute to take the lead back  for SAC. Fullerton College answered back with another goal two minutes later. Freshman Israel Espinoza finalized the win from the Dons in the 80th minute when Everado Serrano set him up for a goal. After one touch, Israel Espinoza's shot bypassed the Hornets goalkeeper.
