Dons Hot Start Continues with 13-11 Win over Santa Monica

GLENDORA - Nick Beavers, Micah Mathis and Duncan Wilson scored three goals apiece as the Dons held on late to claim a 13-11 win over Santa Monica College in the third game of the Citrus Tournament. The Dons, who are now 3-0 on the season, held leads as large as seven goals before ultimately winning by two.

The Dons used a balanced scoring attack to jump out to a 4-0 lead before taking an 8-2 lead after the first quarter. The Dons continued to hold that six-goal lead, taking a 12-6 lead into the half.

Santa Monica rallied from there, outscoring the Dons 5-1 in the second half with Nicholas Todd scoring the only goal of the half for SAC. But the Corsairs rally was too little too late as the Dons grabbed the 13-11 win.

Todd followed the Dons three, three-goal scorers with two goals of his own while Austin Robbins and Marshall Pereda each added a goal in the win. Wes Kobel made 22 saves in the win, nearly as many as he made in the first two games combined.
