Softball Wins at Home Against Grossmont College

SANTA ANA- The Dons defeated the visiting Grossmont College Griffins 4-3 in their second home non-conference game. The win brings the Dons to 4-4 on the season while Grossmont falls to 2-4.

In the second inning, freshman Melissa Haro batted in freshman Troi Van Valkenburg for the first run for Santa Ana College. In the third inning, sophomore Kasey Hutton singled into left field to get on base and then was batted in by freshman Megan Craft for the Dons' second run.

The Griffins battled back in the sixth inning by scoring 2 earned runs. Freshman Raven Sapla answered back with a double then scored the Don's final run off of sophomore Jynelle Pangelinan's base hit. Freshman pitcher Pricilla De La Torre struck out the final Griffin batter to seal the 4-3 win for the Dons.

Pricilla De La Torre (2-1) took the win for the Dons as she only had 3 runs, all earned, on 9 hits in seven innings. Rachel Everett (0-3) picked up the loss for the Griffins as she had 4 runs, 1 unearned, on 9 hits.

Softball will play again on Wednesday, Feb 15, at 3:00 p.m. in their first Orange Empire Conference game against the Orange Coast Pirates.
