SANTA ANA-  The Dons opened Orange Empire Conference competition today with a 2-0 win to visiting Orange Coast College. The Dons (5-4, 1-0) scored two runs on five hits while Orange Coast (2-3, 0-1) scored zero runs on 11 hits.

Sophomore Kasey Hutton got things started with her base hit towards centerfield in the first inning. Sophomore Jynelle Pangelinan doubled to right-centerfield to bring in Kasey Hutton for the RBI. Pangelinan then scored on an error by the Pirates third baseman to seal the win for the Dons 2-0.

Alexis Fraser (1-2) got the win for the Dons as she allowed zero runs on seven hits in five innings of work. For Orange Coast, Carlie Chaulsett-Utley (2-3) took the loss as she allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings.

Softball will play again on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Citrus College at 3:00 p.m.
