SANTA ANA - With both teams looking for their first Orange Empire Conference victory of the season, the Dons put on one of their best offensive performances of the season as they defeated visiting Irvine Valley College 4-1.

The victory was fueled by a pair of two-goal performances from Tiffany Martinez and Xochitl Sandoval as the Dons (2-9-2, 1-5-2) outshot the Lasers (3-6-2, 0-5-2) 22-8 and 11-5 on shots on goal.

Martinez scored the first two goals of the game, with her first coming in the 37th minute. Marisol Quintero sent a corner kick in from the right side and Martinez was able to head the ball in, putting the Dons up 1-0.

Her second goal came in the second half, this time unassisted as she recovered an IVC turnover and fired a shot past the Lasers keeper, putting the Dons up 2-0 in the 58th minute.

The next goal belonged to Sandoval who took the defense on by herself. After dribbling through the defense, Sandoval fired a shot from just inside the box that found the back of the net in the 69th minute.

After Yasmin Hart cut the Dons lead to 3-1 in the 88th minute, Sandoval notched her second goal of the game after the clock hit 90 minutes. Brittany Guerra set up Sandoval who sent a long shot in just under the cross bar, capping scoring for the game.

Monica Hernandez turned away four of the five shots she faced in 90 minutes while IVC's Amanda Rashtian made seven saves while allowing four goals.

The Dons stay at home next Tuesday when they host Golden West College at 3:00 p.m.
