Jaymie Baquero returns for her ninth season as the head women’s soccer coach at Santa Ana College. Baquero has 22 years of coaching experience at several levels, including time with the Olympic Development Program.

In her time at SAC, Baquero has collected 45 wins and led the program to its first playoff appearance in10 years during the 2019 season.

Following her first season with the Dons, Baquero kicked the off-season off with a National Championship as a member of the Cal South Pro+/Olympic Development Program 1998 Girls on March 1 in Phoenix at the U.S. Youth Soccer ODP Championships. Cal South 98 used three second-half goals to defeat Iowa 98 3-0 in the championships. That victory came after a 3-0 win over Eastern New York 98 in the semifinals.

Before joining the staff at SAC, Baquero held several coaching positions at El Camino College, including co-head coach of both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Originally starting as a volunteer assistant coach, Baquero worked her way up the ranks, eventually being named the co-head coach of the women’s team prior to the 2011 season. She also served as the co-head coach of the men’s team in 2012.

Prior to her time at El Camino College, Baquero spent five seasons at West Torrance High School where she served as the head junior varsity coach and as an assistant coach with the varsity program. Baquero is currently a member of the Olympic Development Program coaching staff where she is an assistant coach with the U-16 team and has been the head coach of the South Bay Soccer Club as well as the Palos Verdes Soccer Club.

As a student-athlete at El Camino College, Baquero was a two-time, First-Team All-South Coast Conference selection in soccer while also being named the Pepsi Scholar Athlete of the Year. Baquero also played for the Warriors softball team, earning Second-Team All-SCC honors while also winning the doubles State Championship in badminton. Her athletic accomplishments earned her a place in the El Camino College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Baquero earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount University and her master’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach. She also holds a National “B” License from U.S. Soccer.
