Dons Fall to Riverside City College in Three Straight Sets

SANTA ANA - The Dons lost to Riverside City College in straight sets of an Orange Empire Conference match. The final game scores were 25-16, 25-16 and 25-11.

After Riverside (10-8, 3-5) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first set, the Dons (2-13, 0-8) battled back to tie the set at 4-4 on a service ace by Yvonne Reyes. The two teams played to five more ties up to 12-12 before the Tigers went on a 13-4 run to close out the first set and win 25-16.

The early stages of the second set belonged to the Dons with Marissa Kohler's kill giving them a 3-1 lead. Riverside battled back to tie the match at 4-4, 6-6 and 7-7 before scoring six-straight points to take a 13-7 lead. The Tigers continued to pull away from there before winning the set 25-16.

In the third set, the Dons held an early 4-3 lead before Riverside scored eight-straight points to take a commanding 11-4 lead. The Tigers went on to win the set, and the match, by a score of 25-11.
