Women’s Volleyball Falls to Irvine Valley College at 3-1

SANTA ANA- Dons volleyball takes the Lasers to four sets, but falls with a loss at 3-1.

In the first set against the Lasers, freshman Mikelle Taylor and freshman Stephanie Willett led the Dons with aggressive kills. Irvine Valley College fought hard defensively and won the first set at 25-17.

During the second set, sophomore Viridiana Serrano started off as the first server to fight the Lasers offensively. Mikelle Taylor then scored the first point of the second set to lead the Dons. Sophomore Haylie Slater and Mikelle Taylor both had a block assist that led into a point for the Dons. Irvine Valley College fought back and won the second set at 25-19.

In the third set, Viridiana Serrano and freshman Kassandra Murillo both had a block assist to help the Dons defensively. Mikelle Taylor finished the set with a kill to lead Santa Ana College to win the third set at 25-19 and taking the Lasers into a fourth set.

During the fourth set, the Dons fell to the Lasers at 25-18 and lost the match 3-1.

Dons volleyball will play again on Friday, Oct. 14 against Orange Coast College at 6:00 p.m.
