Dons Surpass Ten Individual and Four Team Records This Season

During the 2016 season, the Dons volleyball team made history by surpassing ten individual records and four team records. Sophomores Viridiana Serrano and Haylie Slater, and freshman Mikelle Taylor all contributed to breaking the volleyball records.

In the 2016 season, the team had the most conference wins since 1984 and the most overall wins since 1983. With a winning percentage of .375, the 2016 Dons had the highest conference winning percentage since 1993. The Dons also capped the season with the highest conference finish since 1988.

Freshman Mikelle Taylor finished off the season by sealing in the top spot for the most kills with 255 kills. Her .251 kill percentage claimed the number two spot in the record books. She also received the second place for the most kills per game with an average of 3.2 kills.

Sophomore Viridiana Serrano also broke into the third place spot with 248 kills during the season. Her kill percentage took the top record-holding spot at .272 and is in the third place for averaging 3.2 kills per game.  Serrano also broke the second place record for service aces in a season with 39 aces and placed number three on the record board for 316 digs during the season.

Sophomore Haylie Slater demolished the record for the most assists in a season with 639 assists and she also took the top spot for her .351 assists percentage. Slater then broke the record for assists per game by averaging 9.3 assists.
