SANTA ANA, Calif. - The 2023 Santa Ana College football season will begin with a Friday night matchup against the Pasadena City Lancers at Robinson Stadium.
There is no doubt a sense of urgency for both of these teams after each finished with a record of 5-5 in 2022.
Santa Ana is set to bring back a handful of returners including the American Metro League MVP Blaze Iglesias. Iglesias will lead a defense that should be strong with some of their top tackle leaders back as Gabriel Magana, Alijah Sadler and Baden Tanikawa are all returning as well.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Dons will have to answer some questions after seeing most of their receiving core and leading rusher graduate.
But fortunately they will have some familiarity at the quarterback position with Dallen Engemann returning after throwing for 1552 yards and 16 touchdowns during his freshman year.
