SANTA ANA, Calif. – Miguel Gomez and Leyna Wood have been named Santa Ana's Student-Athletes of the Month of September 2018.
Miguel Gomez has been a big reason for Santa Ana's success this year. The sophomore from Katella High had his most memorable moment of the young season when he scored the game winning goal against College of the Desert to lead the Dons to a 3-2 win. Gomez is tied for fourth in assists in the Orange Empire Conference with four and has also knocked in two goals.
Leyna Wood has also gotten off to a hot start, scoring 10 goals with seven of them coming against conference opponents. The forward leads the OEC in goals scored and is 16th in the state in the same category. Wood is a freshman from University High and is majoring in Sports Medicine.
