Santa Ana Beach Volleyball Defeats Fullerton 3-2 to Extends Win Streak to Three

SANTA ANA, Calif. – On Friday, the Santa Ana beach volleyball team extended its winning streak to three, defeating Fullerton College 3-2 at the Huntington Beach Newland Courts.

The Dons were back at full strength and able to compete in all five matches after having to forfeit the fifth in previous contests.

Four out of five matches on the day went to three sets, forcing the Dons to battle for every point.

Faaaliga Mikaele and Naomi Ruiz came back from a 1-0 deficit to set the tone for the Dons, winning their matchup 21-15, 16-21, 13-15 in the two spot.

Santa Ana's fours and fives collected the second and third wins to secure the victory for the Dons.

Liz Uribe paired with Destiny Torres to pick up a point with an 8-21, 21-9, 5-15 win as the fourth pair while Jasmin Cardona and Kimberly Meza recorded a 15-21, 21-12, 8-15 win as the fives.

The Dons are now 4-4 overall and 2-1 in Orange Empire Conference play with the win. They currently are tied for second place in the standings with Cypress and Orange Coast.
