Dons Travel to Face No. 17/18 Citrus in Week 8

SANTA ANA, Calif. -  In week eight of the season, Santa Ana Football will go on the road to face the No. 17/18 (CCCSIA/JCAB) ranked Citrus Owls (6-0, 1-0) in American Metro League (AML) action.

The Dons (2-4, 1-0) won their second consecutive game with a 49-6 victory over LA Southwest in their AML opener at home in week seven. Despite playing sporadically through a couple weather delays and finishing the game in the third quarter, the Dons got things rolling offensively to put up 473 yards of offense while holding the Cougars to just 32 yards.

But this Saturday, Santa Ana will face a true test as the Owls have been dominant throughout the season. Citrus added onto their winning streak as they collected a 31-6 win over Orange Coast in last week's game. The Owls went for 384 yards offensively and showed the ability to force turnovers with three interceptions in the game.

The matchup will be interesting to say the least as the Dons prepare for a Citrus offense led by quarterback Adam Urena. In the Owl's last game, Urena set a program record with 46 career touchdown passes.

But Urena will face a Santa Ana defense that hangs its hat on getting to the quarterback in the backfield. The Dons are currently tied for second in sacks in the state at 23 and only give up 192 passing yards per game thus far.

If the Dons can keep the Owl's offense in check, they'll have a shot to pull off the upset and defend their AML championship crown.
