Dons Avenge Early Loss with 5-0 Win over Riverside City

The only blemish on the Santa Ana College (SAC) men's soccer's Orange Empire Conference record came at the hands of Riverside City College. The Dons (11-3-3, 8-1-1) more then made up for it with a 5-0 win at home over the Tigers (4-9-3, 3-6-1) on Friday.

The two teams played the first half even according to the stats with each team getting two shots on goal. But it was the Dons who generated the first quality scoring chance in the 10th minute.

Briant Rodelo controlled the ball through the middle of the field and slipped a pass to Christian Supancic through the Tigers defense. Supancic quickly took a shot that deflected off Riverside's keeper and into the back of the net to put the Dons up 1-0.

It was in the second half when the Dons took control of the game. Cesar Hernandez put the Dons up 2-0 when he scored on a cross from Edgar Islas in the 54th minute. The next two goals came 20 minutes later, within five minutes of each other.

Rodelo scored a goal of his own when he took a pass from Amos De La Paz then navigated through the Tigers defense. After freeing himself with a move on the end line, Rodelo squeezed a shot past the keeper that put the Dons up 3-0 in the 74th minute.

Then, in the 79th minute, Eduardo Pantoja received a pass from Carlos Hernandez and scored on a shot from the middle of the box to put SAC up 4-0. The Dons final goal came in 86th minute when Victor Jimenez sent a cross to the far post that found Supancic who scored his second goal of the game.

Jose Sosa recorded the shutout for the Dons by making two saves. Richard Sepulveda made four saves for Riverside while allowing all five goals.
