Barrios and Yepez Lead Dons Past Coast

SANTA ANA - With their third-straight 4-0 win during Orange Empire Conference competition, the Dons moved into a tie with Irvine Valley College for first place. The latest 4-0 win came today over Orange Coast College (3-6-1, 2-2-0) as the Dons improve to 4-4-3 overall and 3-0-1 in conference.

Just one of the four goals came in the first half with Dong Beom Seo scoring on a shot to the far post, set up by a pass to the left side of the box from David Yepez in the 40th minute.

Yepez scored the next goal for the Dons when he beat Coast's keeper one-on-one after a pass slipped through the defense by Carlos Barrios in the 51st minute. Yepez returned the favor in the 67th minute when he sent a cross through the box that Barrios headed in for the Dons third goal.

The fourth, and final, goal was scored by Yepez as he was in the right place at the right time in the 81st minute. Jangho Yoon fired a free kick off the cross bar and the rebound bounced right to Yepez who headed the ball into the goal.

Cyrus Mohseni and Andres Figueroa combined for the shutout with Mohseni making two saves in 78 minutes before Figueroa closed out the match without facing a shot. For Coast, Ryan Brown made three saves in 90 minutes while allowing four goals.

Next up for the Dons is a trip to Santiago Canyon College to face a Hawks team that is tied for third place in the conference. That match is on Tuesday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m.
