SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana College Men's Soccer dropped their 2024 season opener against the LA Mission Eagles (1-0-0) by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dons (0-1-0) fell behind early due to an unfortunate errant pass that ended in an easy goal for LAMC forward Henry Lopez.
Despite outshooting the Eagles in the second half (12-5), the Dons found themselves behind 2-0 at the 68 minute mark after Jeff Jaimes of LAMC connected with teammate Pablo Leon on the tailend of a breakaway attack.
It wasn't until the 82nd minute mark that SAC would get on the board thanks to an Eagle hand ball in the box followed by a penalty kick from sophomore midfielder Juan Manzano.
The score would stay the same for the final eight minutes, giving SAC what must feel like an unwarranted loss.
Santa Ana will be back at home on Friday to host the College of the Desert Roadrunners (0-2) at 4:00 p.m.
