Barajas Takes First in 5K at Arnie Robinson Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Giovanni Barajas came up with his best performance of the year to place first overall in the 5,000 meter race at the Arnie Robinson Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College on Friday, April 5th.

Barajas, a freshman out of Garden Grove High, clocked in at a time of 15:39.37 to win the event against 14 other competitors.

Other Dons that stood out at the meet were Maria Marroquin and Octavio Moreno.

Marroquin placed fourth in the 1,500 meter race with a time of 5:20.21 and followed that with a fifth place finish in the 800 meter event at a time of 2:38.98.

And Moreno competed in the 110 meter hurdle event and the 400 meter race, checking in at seventh and 26th respectively.

The Dons will look forward to their next meet at Cerritos College on Friday, April 12th before coming home to host the Orange Empire Conference Prelims on Friday, April 19th.
