Jade Morales Becomes First 3C2A State Champion in SAC Women’s Wrestling History

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jade Morales became the first 3C2A state champion in Santa Ana College Women's Wrestling history after dominating the 123 pound bracket at the state tournament on April 20th. 

Morales entered the tournament ranked No. 1 with a record of 14-0. The freshman out of Santa Ana High remained undefeated, recording three more wins on her way to the title. 

She started the day by defeating Pir`chai Dickerson of Palomar College with a fall in the second period. She moved on to face Mt. San Antonio's Nadia Hernandez, who she would beat 22-4 for a technical fall in the semifinal round. 

In the championship, she made quick work of Denise Figueroa out of Cerritos College with a fall in first period and cemented her name in the record books. 

Thanks to her dominance on the mat, Morales was also voted the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. 

In addition, SAC also saw Stephany Zamora earn the Gorriaran award which is presented to the wrestler with the most falls in the least amount of time. Zamora finished third in the 102 pound bracket but recorded four falls in six minutes and six seconds of match time.
