SANTA ANA - The Dons lost to visiting Saddleback College 3-1 today in an Orange Empire Conference match. The loss drops the Dons to 7-12-0 overall and 3-11-0 in conference while Saddleback improves to 14-3-2 overall and 10-2-2 in conference.

The Gauchos built a 3-0 lead over 71 minutes with a goal by Breanna Taboada in the 32nd minute, a goal by Monica Venturini in the 50th minute and a goal by Emilee Monnig in the 71st minute. Taboada also assisted on the latter two goals after scoring hers unassisted.

Alex Peinado put the Dons on the scoreboard when she scored off a corner kick in the 89th minute. Makenna Roa sent the corner kick into the box where Betty Tamayo made a quick pass to the front of the box to Peinado for the shot.

Joey Martinez played all 90 minutes for the Dons and made five saves with three goals allowed while Saddleback's Angelica Ramos made three saves with one goal allowed in 90 minutes.

The Dons wrap up the season next week with a home match and a road match. On Tuesday, the Dons host Fullerton College in their final home match of the season. The team will honor its six sophomores prior to the start of the match at 1:00 p.m.
