Dons Drop Final Home Match of Season to Fullerton

SANTA ANA - The Dons lost their final home match of the season 4-1 to visiting Fullerton College in an Orange Empire Conference match. The loss drops the Dons to 7-13-0 overall and 3-12-0 in conference while Fullerton improves to 7-10-3 overall and 6-7-2 in conference.

Fullerton jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Crystal Foutris in the 30th and 41st minutes. The first goal was scored on a loose ball in the box, the second goal came on an Alyssa Larios corner kick.

Gabriela Rodriguez cut the Hornets lead in half when she scored in the 43rd minute on a throw-in by Cristina Lizarraga.

But Fullerton would add two more goals in the second half to take the 4-1 victory. Madison Wells scored in the 53rd minute before Amalia Serna scored in the 72nd minute. Johanna Serna assisted on both goals.

Joey Martinez made seven saves for the Dons in 90 minutes. She was matched by Fullerton's Mallory Van Voorhis who also made seven saves.

Prior to the match, the Dons honored their six sophomores who were playing in their final home match at Santa Ana College. The six sophomores were Brianna George, Hannah Hollingshead, Lizarraga, Kaitlynn Oborny, Makenna Roa and Rodriguez.
