Arreola and Macdonald Advance to Quarterfinals in OEC Beach Championships

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Frida Arreola and Aubree Macdonald advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2021 Orange Empire Conference Beach Pairs Championships held at the Newland Courts in Huntington Beach on Friday. 

The duo defeated the 9th seeded Cypress pair Mary Hicks and Lauren Adamo 21-13, 21-14 to solidify their spots in the next round.

In the quarterfinals, the SAC duo fought hard but fell to the eventual champions in Thea Snider and Summer Hank of Orange Coast.

Arreola and Macdonald automatically earn First Team All-OEC Honors after advancing and proving to be one of the top eight teams. 

The Dons also saw Jordan Ninmer and Emily Knowles compete as the 4th seed against Fullerton's Karen Delgadillo and Brianne Elorriaga. Although the match went three sets, the Fullerton pair got the win by a score of 21-15, 15-21, 15-11. 

Santa Ana had one more team compete with Courtney Gomez and Karen Salazar representing as the 14th seed. The duo was defeated 21-16, 21-16 by OCC's Haley Reid and Rachael Street.
