SANTA ANA, Calif. - No. 9 Santa Ana College Baseball broke a handful of program records as they defeated the Compton Tartars (7-21) by a score of 39-12 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dons (22-7) were locked in at the plate as they set new records for a single game in runs scored (39), hits (30) and runs batted in (37).
Freshman outfielder Sota Teshima had his biggest game of the season as he launched two home runs over the right field fence and finished with four hits and nine runs batted in. The speedy left hander from Japan just missed hitting for the cycle, falling short of the triple.
SAC had 12 players record hits, pushing their team average to .323 (10th in the state).
Defensively, Santa Ana had a planned bullpen day and used six pitchers throughout the day.
Freshman right-hander Tyler Sandhu had the best outing, as he struck out five in two and two third scoreless innings. Bruno Banuelos was solid out of the bullpen as he went one and two thirds with a strikeout. But it was Colin Galvin who picked up the win with a clean fifth inning before giving four runs in the sixth.
Santa Ana hopes their bats stay hot as they get back to Orange Empire Conference play by hosting Golden West College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
