Dons Struggle in Season Opening Loss to Allan Hancock

After an impressive opening drive, the Dons surrendered 37-straight points to host Allan Hancock College before ultimately losing 67-21 in the first game of the 2015 season. The Dons (0-1) will look to bounce back in their home opener next Saturday, September 12, against Los Angeles Harbor College at 6:00 p.m.

Jason Habash led the Dons opening drive with his feet and his arm as the Dons went 75 yards in just five plays. Habash opened the drive with a 50-yard run before connecting with Dorion Barnett for a 10-yard touchdown pass to put the Dons up 7-0 just two minutes into the game.

But the Bulldogs (1-0), playing in their first game ever on campus, scored 37-straight points before the Dons found the end zone again. Allan Hancock's run started with nine points in just over one minute with a safety and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs scored four more touchdowns before the Dons were able to stop the damage. Finally, with just under three minutes left in the first half, Habash and Barnett connected again for a touchdown, this time from eight yards, to make the halftime score 37-14.

After the Bulldogs returned an interception for a touchdown to open the second half, Habash found Barnett again, this time from 28 yards out, to make the score 44-21 with just under six minutes left in the third quarter.

But Hancock would shut out the Dons for the remainder of the game while scoring 23 more points, including a second safety of the game, to go on to the 46-point victory.
