SANTA ANA – The Dons pulled their record even to 1-1 as they led wire-to-wire in their 39-28 victory over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College in a non-conference game. The Dons will travel to College of the Canyons for their next game on Saturday, September 19 with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.

The Dons grabbed the first lead of the game less than one minute into action with William Hanley scoring on a three-yard run to cap off a 55-yard scoring drive. LA Harbor (0-2) answered just as quickly with Nick Karsseboom catching a 70-yard touchdown pass from Clark Livingston less than a minute later.

The next two scores belonged to the Dons with Jonah Mack connecting on a 32-yard field goal before Matthew Williams caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Jason Habash to extend the Dons lead to 17-6.

Harbor pulled within three points later in the second quarter with Livingston finding Marquis Waters for a five-yard touchdown pass. But the Dons would tack on three more points before the half on a 40-yard field goal by Mack to send the game into the break with SAC up 20-14.

The Dons opened the second half scoring as well with Hanley finding the end zone on a 21-yard touchdown run before Mack hit his third field goal of the game, this time from 24-yards out to put the Dons up 29-14.

Harbor began a rally following that field goal with back-to-back touchdowns in the final 3:31 of the third quarter. Karsseboom scored on a 67-yard pass before Michael Andrews scored on an eight-yard pass, both from Livingston. But the Dons blocked the second extra point, preventing Harbor from tying the game and preserving a 29-28 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Mack added his fourth field goal with a 29-yard effort before Taj Ashmeade sealed the game with a touchdown in the final two minutes to make the score 39-28 in favor of the host Dons.

Hanley had the big day for the Dons as he rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns while Williams led the way receiving with 83 yards on three catches.
