SAC Football Takes Back the Victory Flag with a 56-14 Win Over Orange Coast

COSTA MESA, Calif. - With a 56-14 win against Orange Coast College on Saturday afternoon,  the Santa Ana College Football team reclaimed the "Victory Flag" in it's storied rivalry against the Pirates while also extending its winning streak to five games.

The Dons used their high powered offense led by sophomore quarterback Ceasar Ayala as well as a stifling defense that forced 5 turnovers to rout OCC in an American Metro League matchup.

Ayala went 17-29 for 260 yards and three touchdowns to give the Dons more than enough on the offensive side of the ball.

Receivers Tyler Shimomura and Arthur Shaw benefited most as the two combined for 184 yards, 11 catches and two touchdowns. Fellow wideout Kyran Hayes added two catches that were both touchdowns for a total of 29 yards.

Running back Gary Ferman had another efficient game with 36 yards and a touchdown on eight touches while Ethan Pocci averaged 10 yards a carry with a total of 30 yards on the day.

Although Santa Ana has put up a ton of points in the current winning streak, the Dons are quietly having an impressive season on the defensive side of the ball. After holding the Pirates to 14 points, SAC now ranks third in the state in total points allowed and second in points allowed per game.

In this one, defensive back Devyon Benton stole the show as the freshman out of Eisenhower came up with two picks and returned both for touchdowns for a total of 134 yards. He also added four tackles and a pass break up.

Fellow defense back Jalen Jones posted a team high 10 tackes with an interception of his own while Matthew Galvan and Daylen Fuller recorded eight tackles each.

With the win, Santa Ana improves to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in league action. Up next for the Dons will be their final home game of the season as they host West LA on Saturday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m.
