Santa Ana Edged by Cypress 63-62 in Overtime

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana men's basketball team was on the verge of collecting its second Orange Empire Conference win on Monday night as it found itself up 58-55 against Cypress College with 11 seconds to play in regulation.

But Cypress' Sebastian Castro knocked down a contested three-pointer with just three seconds left to send the game into overtime where Santa Ana was narrowly edged by one to fall by a score of 63-62.

Ramon Lopez and Jalani Horn produced most of the offense for the Dons as the pair combined for 43 points. Lopez added six assists, five rebounds and four steals while Horn logged 11 boards for another double-double.

Although Santa Ana suffered its second consecutive loss, the team has just a five point differential in the two games combined. The biggest problem for the Dons has been their lack of size, as they have been outrebounded by 17 in the losing streak.

Santa Ana is now 6-11, 1-4 while Cypress moves up to 11-6, 2-4 with the win.
