Late Heroics Gives Santa Ana 4-2 Win Over SCC

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Jorge Cortes came up with a big goal to give Santa Ana Men's Soccer the lead with just eight minutes left in its  Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match against Santiago Canyon (5-12-1, 1-10) on Tuesday afternoon.

Cortes took a free shot from about 25 yards out and hit the perfect spot at the top corner of the far post for his first goal of the season. The sophomore from San Clemente is usually starting at goalkeeper for the Dons but over the last few matches he's been producing as a forward.

The Dons scored one more in the 83rd minute when Jesse Mancilla made a run on a pass from Mark Rayo to put the match away for good.

Jordan Bueno returned to the field for SAC and collected two goals in the first half to give the Dons an early lead.

Santiago Canyon responded with a goal in the 35th minute and tied the game with another in the 66th.

With the win, the Dons remain in a tie for second place with Cypress at a record of 10-5-5, 6-3-2 overall. SAC will host No. 12 Fullerton on Thursday for their final match of the regular season.
