Dons Softball Fall Short in Match-up Against Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The five-game winning streak was snapped for the Santa Ana College Softball team, as they fell to the Cypress Chargers on Friday afternoon.

The Dons were ranked fourth in the Orange Empire Conference, after winning their last three conference games, and were confident about chances against the first-place Chargers.

It was a rough start for Santa Ana, as the Chargers put up six runs in the first inning and followed that up with a five-run second.

Don's pitcher Pricilla De La Torre shut the Chargers down for the next five innings with consecutive outs in innings three through six. The freshman struck out two in six innings pitched.

Starting shortstop Megan Craft had a productive day by making contact and putting balls in play. She drove in three runs on the day with a fielder's choice in the bottom of the third, and a RBI groundout to second in the fifth.

Sophomore Jynelle Pangelinan and freshman Jordan Ladner both contributed with two hits on the day.

In the end, the Chargers quick start was too much for the Dons to come back from, as they dropped the game by a score of 11-4.

SAC is now 13-10 overall and 5-4 in conference, with a home game against Fullerton College on Wednesday, March. 21st at 3:00 PM.

Next, the Dons will host Fullerton College on Wednesday, March. 22 at 3:00 PM.
