Santa Ana Softball Ends Season in First Round CCCAA SoCal Regionals

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Softball team ended its season in the 2018 CCCAA SoCal Regionals on Saturday afternoon after losing game two by a score of 12-3 against the No. 4 seeded El Camino Warriors.

In the first game, Santa Ana outplayed the Warriors in almost every inning but struggled to cash in on their opportunities, leaving eight on base compared to just two for El Camino. The Dons also tallied six (8-2) more hits than the Warriors on the way to a 1-0 loss.

The bats came alive for both teams in game two as they combined for 15 total runs. El Camino scored the bulk of that in the first two innings, jumping out to an 8-0 lead after one and adding another five runs in the second.

Santa Ana made their final push in the fourth and fifth innings with three runs but didn't quite get enough to extend the game, falling 12-3 in five innings.

The Dons finish the season with a record of 23-17, 15-6 and a second place finish in the Orange Empire Conference. They'll lose three sophomores but return the rest of the squad for the 2019 season.
