Sophomores Go Out on Top as Santa Ana Defeats Copper Mountain

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana sophomores Alexis Casillas and Alexis Smith played their last game in Bill Cook Gym on Tuesday night. They went out on a high note, as the Dons cruised to 91-27 win against the Copper Mountain Fighting Cacti to improve to 12-13 overall and 7-6 in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Dons were dominant from the start, jumping out to a 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The next three quarters were much of the same as they built a huge lead by winning each by at least 14 points.

As a team, the Dons shot 51.3 percent and held the Fighting Cacti to just 20.5 percent while forcing 27 turnovers.

Casillas finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds five assists while Smith added six points, two assists and a steal.

On Thursday, Feb. 15th Santa Ana will play their last regular season game on the road, taking on No. 11 Cypress College at 5:00 p.m.
