Ramirez Takes First to Lead Dons to 8th place Finish at SAC Tournament

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana College Men's Wrestling hosted 11 other teams in their annual tournament on Saturday, September 30th. 

Edward Ramirez took the top spot in the 165 pound weight class to give the Dons 28.5 team points and lead them to an eighth place finish. The sophomore from Costa Mesa High went 4-0 with three technical falls in the tournament. 

Santa Ana also got 19.5 points from Joseph Nava, who finished 5-1 to take third place at 285 pounds. Ezekiel Hueter gave the Dons 11 points, going 3-2 on the day while Makoa Shefte and Sergio Gutierrez collected a combined 8.5 points. 

As a team, the Dons are now ranked 9th in the state while Huerter (3rd - 157lbs), Ramirez (5th - 165lbs) and Nava (3rd - 285lbs) have been ranked individually. 

SAC is set to take on East LA in their first dual match of the season on Wednesday, October 4th at 7:00 p.m.
