SANTA ANA, Calif. - In their first dual meet of the season, the Santa Ana College Men's Wrestling team outscored the East LA Huskies (0-3) 36-16 to pick up the win.

The Dons (1-0) started the night off with an advantage as they were gifted six points due to ELAC forfeiting the 125 pound match.

Artemis Shmuel then added to the lead with a technical fall as he routed his opponent by a score of 18-1 in the 133 pound matchup.

East LA responded with a 15-4 for win over SAC's Makoa Shefte followed by a forfeit from the Dons at 149 pounds, bringing the score to 11-10 just under halfway through the dual.

From there, Santa Ana took control as Ezekiel Hueter and Edward Ramirez dominated to pick up technical falls in the 157 and 165 pound weight classes.

Sergio Gutierrez collected six more points for the Dons with a fall late in the 3rd period of the 174 pound match while Andres Carrillo battled his way to an exciting overtime win to pick up another three points, giving the SAC a 30-10 lead.

The Huskies were given six more points because of a Santa Ana forfeit at 197 pounds but the Dons finished the night with Joseph Nava earning a fall in the third period of the 285 pound class.

SAC will take a break until October 14th when they will compete in the Southern California Regional Duals at Cerritos College.
