SAC Women’s Soccer Defeats IVC 1-0 on Sophomore Day

SANTA ANA, Calif. - In the final home match of the season, the Santa Ana College Women's Soccer team defeated the Irvine Valley Lasers (5-14-0, 4-8-0) by a score of 1-0 on Friday afternoon. 

Freshman midfielder Brianna Mejia made a run in the box and scored the game winning goal at the 29 minute mark in the first half. Fellow freshman Jezhabel Rodriguez executed a perfect cross to collect her first assist of the year.

Valerie Ibarra, a sophomore out of Orange High, recorded eight saves in her second shutout of the season to get the win at goalkeeper.

The Dons have now won two of their last three games and hope to carry the momentum into next week when they close the season. 

SAC will travel to Golden West on Tuesday followed by a road game against Orange Coast on Thursday.
