Dons Open Season at Palomar Invitational with Pair of Top-6 Finishes

SAN DIEGO, CA - The 2013 season opened for the Dons cross country squads as the women took fourth place and the men fifth place at the Palomar Invitational held at Guajome Park.

Leading the charge for the Dons was Quetzalin Tepayotl who finished in third place in the women's race while Edwin Ortiz-Lopez led the men by finishing in sixth place.

Following Tepayotl in the women's race was Azahalea Vazquez who finished 20th in the scoring, Marisol Vapor in 25th place, Angie Gomez in 28th place and Gisela Lopez in 38th place. The women's fourth place finish was out of 10 teams with Orange Empire Conference foes Fullerton College taking first place and Riverside City College in second place. Host Palomar College took third place.

In the men's race, Ortiz-Lopez was followed by Miguel Servin in 25th place, Carlos Otiniano in 38th place, Juan Damaso in 39th place and Rafael Godinez in 47th place. The Dons fifth place finish was out of eight teams with Cerritos College taking first place. OEC opponents Riverside City College took third place and Fullerton College took sixth place.
